The cleaning order for oral care is generally lips → teeth → cheeks → sublingual → hard palate → tongue → sublingual.
It should be noted that for special groups, such as comatose patients, special oral care methods are required. Before oral care, the patient's head should be tilted to one side so that secretions and vomitus can flow out from the corners of the mouth. Then, use curved hemostats to clamp the cotton ball, take 1 to 2 cotton balls each time, dip in an appropriate amount of mouthwash, start from one corner of the mouth, scrub the outer side of the teeth longitudinally, and then scrub the inner side and occlusal surface of the teeth in the same way. After scrubbing, assist the patient to rinse his mouth, and finally use curved hemostats to clamp the cotton ball and gently wipe various parts of the mouth.
In addition, when performing oral care, you should also pay attention to gentle movements during operation to avoid damaging the oral mucosa. The cotton ball should not be too wet to prevent the patient from choking and coughing. For comatose patients, pay attention to observe whether there are ulcers, bleeding, etc. in the mouth.
